Kids On The Move Dance

This has what's really been keeping me busy the last few weeks. April is dance school month! This year we had 3 different schools the first being Kids On The Move. This is our 3rd year with Kids On The Move and it has been great working with them. This year I created the above promotional poster for them as well as photograph them performing at The Big Event For Little Kids which is always fun! Below are some of the Memory Mates I like to custom design to match their dance costumes.

Alex (Spring Special)

Here's little Alex. He was our last one for our Spring Special this year. And, while he wasn't too fond of the little chicks, we got some fun images of him with them and the bunnies as well as some nice portraits of him alone. Here are a few.

Hailyn (Spring Special)

Hailyn and her sisters came in for our Spring Special as well. Hailyn was overdue for some individual portraits so we did a few extra for her. She was quite the little poser and a lot of fun to photograph.

Brett & Braden (Spring Special)

Brett & Braden also came in for our Spring Special. However, we did not use any animals which was just fine. We still got some great images with the two boys.

Christopher & Mitchell (Spring Special)

Christopher & Mitchell came in for our Spring Special at the begining of April. It was a short run special for a couple reasons. One, I like to use real animals for our portraits instead of fake or stuffed ones. And, we can only get the animals at certain times. Also, the chicks only stay cute for a little while. But, we got some fun images with the boys without any injuries to the animals!

Career Day

I was recently asked to speak at Oconto Falls Washington Middle School Career Day. I spent the day talking with some 8th grade groups about photography, owning your own business, and how to be successful at both. A few things we discussed were photographic equipment, costs of a professional photography business, and schooling options if they wanted to choose photography as a career. I also showed them some fun techniques for digital enhancements on portraits. A few students were lucky enough to be photographed as well. I took each student's "picture" and then also created a "portrait" for them hopefully showing the difference between professional and amateur with lighting and posing. Here are some of the images from that day.

Way Behind!!!!!

So I am way, way, way, way behind on my blog. Sorry!!! So I figured I would start with these images. Every month, except for the summer months, I attend a meeting with the Fox Valley Professional Photographers Association group. I am one of their members and currently on their executive board as Print Chair. At these meetings we have speakers come in and discuss new techniques and ideas with the photography world. We also have image competitions where members bring in images to be judged and awarded. April's category was Families and these are the two images I entered. I received the honor of Best of Show for the top image which is the highest scoring image in that category. The image title was "Daddddd!"
